Poulsbo

2006 cruise schedule

February 18 Cruise to Poulsbo:
The meeting in Poulsbo was quite enjoyable. Four C 36's made the journey, two from Shilshole, one from Elliot, and one from Kingston. Two new members to C 36 Fleet 4 are Jim and Tara Maltby aboard Liberty, and Stan and Robin Howell who should now be the proud owners of an 89 named Escapade. Walter and Meryl Conner, John and Sally Hamel, Michael and Lynda McCann, and special guests Paul and Carol McManus. Great eats, and lots of good wine made the evening aboard Jaded very enjoyable. Some of the subjects discussed were anchor rode's, and battery banks.
April 21-23

Brownsville Marina (aka) Poulsbo Marina

Three boats (DeFENDer, Sea Sea Rider and Cutting Edge) rafted at Manzanita Friday night and found that Brownsville had no room! We decided to move the gathering to Pouslbo and the final boat count was seven. The photo shows 13 (including me the photographer) in the DeFENDer Condo for appetizers, then on to the Italian restaurant for dinner. Those present were: Walter and Meryl Conner, John and Sally Hamel, Michael and Lynda McCann, Paul McManus, David and Peggy Fend, Jim and Kelly Hettinger, Jim Ventris and Shelly Syverson. It was a great weekend for all.

May 19-21

Quartermaster Harbor

Cutting Edge arrived at Dockton about 7 pm on Friday during some sprinkles with Jaded about 10 minutes behind. Kelly, Jim, and Mike shared dinner aboard Cutting Edge. Jim, and Kelly left Dockton about 9 am the next morning. I spent a lazy day trying to get my $22 worth of the docks reading, and doing some needed cleaning on Jaded's exterior. Endless Summer arrived around 5 pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Walter wanted to start the break in on his new Mercury 4 stroke, so he headed out in the dinghy (also new). Meryl broke out her book, and I went back to mine. When Walter returned we started snacking aboard Endless Summer in the warm sunshine.

July 28-31

Hunter Bay, Lopez Island

The sailing in the Northwest has been outstanding along with the summer weather. The Puget Sound Fleet 4 held it's first rendezvous in Hunter Bay on Lopez Island in the San Juan's on July 28-30. The crabbing and fishing were very good adding to the great menu prepared by the fleet members. Making the journey from the Seattle area were Dave and Peggy on Defender, John and Sally on Auntie Beryl, Michael and Lynda on Jaded. Coming over from Anacortes were Dave and Terri on Carumba, and from Bellingham previous owner Frank with new owner Al on Chardonnay. Defender, Auntie Beryl, Jaded, and Chardonnay rafted where everyone got together for a cocktail hour with hor d'ovres. Three of the boats were within 11 of each other, with sail numbers between 1216-1227. There were lots of modifications on the boats to keep the members busy for several hours.

Arriving on Saturday was Jerry aboard Shadowfax, out of Anacortes, and our favorite C380 that thinks it is a 36 Sea Sea Rider with Paul and Carol from Port Orchard. They were at the end of a trip to Desolation Sound, and hung around a few extra days to join us.

The rendezvous was a success, and will return to the Islands again next year.

The boats that made the cruise to Dockton on Vashon Island were, John, and Sally Hamel on Auntie Beryl, Jim and Kelly Hettinger on Cutting Edge, Sidney and Joan Hays on Vision, and Rob and Karen Trahan on Escape. The weather was nice enough for all to enjoy eating, and visiting together.

Brownsville - will see if I can get reservations - if not it will be first come
pot luck barbeque at 6PM

The 3rd annual Brownsville cruise was a moderate success. Sally, and John Hamel were first to arrive Friday evening aboard Auntie Beryl. Lynda, and Michael McCann soon joined them on Jaded. Ruby, and Oscar got re-aquatinted while the Hamels, and McCanns visited over Jambalaya (?), and red wine. We were joined the next day by Meryl, and Walter Conner aboard Endless Summer. Karen, and Rob Trahan tried to make it, but some confusion with the marina ended with them going to Eagle Harbor instead. Saturday evening saw a great 'low carb' feast spread out on the picnic table enjoyed by all.

July 24/25

Port Ludlow - anchor out and rafting as needed - meal get together still to be decided (any suggestions)

Ahoy all C36 Members;
The cruise to Port Ludlow was attended by Jim, and Shelly on Serenity, Michael, and Lynda on Jaded, and John, and Sally on Auntie Beryl. An impromptu dinner was held on Auntie Beryl on Friday night. The weather was hot on Friday, but Saturday was quite comfortable with a nice soft breeze blowing all day. Dinner was again held aboard Auntie Beryl with a pot luck snacks (I can't remember how to spell that French word) prior to dinner.
Jaded dropped the hook in the "Inner Harbor" and was joined by Auntie Beryl. Jim was already at anchor in the main harbor, and since he was swapping crew the next day decided to stay put. We had the anchorage nearly all to ourselves. It was a relaxing weekend.
